Chapin, SC (WLTX) -- Two bank accounts for The Town of Chapin have been frozen, News19 has learned.
The two banks, First Community Bank and BB&T, took the action of freezing the accounts because of confusion on who is allowed to sign payments for town employees, Town Councilwoman Vivian Atkins said.
The accounts were frozen Tuesday by the banks.
Procedure has been for Town Clerk Adrienne Wilson and Mayor Skip Wilson to sign off on the payments, but because the Mayor suspended Thompson, she was not there to do so.
Wilson has accused Thompson of "financial irregularities" and suspended her in April.
The accounts were frozen by the banks after Wilson added Councilman Gregg White to a signature card.
The banks then later decided to freeze the accounts, Atkins said.
The town's utilities account remains open.
