Irmo, SC (WLTX) - More than one hundred athletes from South Carolina will be packing their bags and heading to New Jersey on June 14th.
The 2014 USA Games will be hosting nearly 3,500 athletes who will be competing in 16 different sports.
The unified tennis team from the Midlands is composed of two Special Olympic athletes and their supporting partners. Demi Hiepner and Nanette Howerin have been practicing with John Doudoujkian II and John Doudoujkian Senior.
"Show good sportsmanship and also be nice," said John Doudoujkian, who began playing tennis with his dad last year.
Hiepner, an athlete who was born in South America, says she is ready to bring home the gold.
"i like to play tennis, it is really nice," said Heipner.
She has been playing with her partner for four years.
"I found out they lived in Columbia and we started hitting together and now here we are heading to nationals," said Howerin.
The 2014 Special Olympics USA Games will be hosted in Princeton, New Jersey, June 14-21st.
