Columbia, SC (WLTX) - One person has been arrested following a meth lab explosion in Richland County Tuesday morning.
Richland County Sergeant Curtis Wilson says around 8 a.m., officers got a call about an explosion at a house on Gardenia Drive, which is off Alpine Road.
Investigators determined that a meth lab inside the home triggered the blast.
Originally, deputies told News19 that a father and son were injured in the explosion, and were both taken to the hospital for treatment. However, officers say that report is no longer accurate.
Instead, officers now say three people inside the home, including a child, left after the explosion and met up with a friend. One of the people who was in the home was dropped off at the hospital for treatment. The remaining people then continued driving in a silver four-door Pontiac.
Wilson says one other person remained at the home, and that person was taken into custody by deputies.
Officers later in the day say they charged 20-year-old William Tenuto with manufacturing methamphetamine, unlawful distribution of methamphetamine waste, and hazardous waster management act.
