ROCK HILL, S.C. (AP) - The Winthrop University Board of Trustees has given the school's president a 30-day notice of termination, one day after she and her husband returned the $27,000 he earned last year while working for the school.
The Herald of Rock Hill reported (http://bit.ly/1qIMVau) that the board also suspended the duties of President Jamie Comstock Williamson. The newspaper said Provost Debra Boyd will serve president until a new permanent or interim president is named.
The board met for about six hours Friday in a special session called earlier this week. Williamson met with the board for about an hour, then was taken to an office downstairs.
On Thursday, Williamson and her husband, Larry, returned the money he earned while working part-time in the president's office in the last school year.
