COLUMBIA, S.C. (WLTX) - Columbia Fire crews worked to save a home in Lake Carolina after it caught fire early Monday morning.

It happened on Denman Loop at about 5:15 a.m. Fire officials say the blaze started on the back deck, where the family had been grilling the day before. They believe the fire started when embers from the grill fell onto the deck.

No one was injured in the fire.

The roof suffered severe damage, but the majority of the home is still intact. Damage was estimated at $140,000.
