Lexington, SC (WLTX) - Two cases of public corruption in Lexington County, each involving two longtime law enforcement officials taking bribes. But the link between both of them, according to prosecutors, is one man: former Lexington Town Councilman Danny Frazier.

Frazier was indicted Tuesday by a state grand jury in cases involving Lexington County Sheriff James Metts and Former South Congaree Police Chief Jason Amodio.

Prosecutors allege Frazier arranged with Metts to get illegal aliens, employed by a Mexican restaurant owner, out of the Lexington County Jail. According to an indictment, Frazier acted as a middle man, taking payments from the owner, keeping a fee for himself, then passing the rest of the cash on to Metts. In the Amodio case, prosecutors say Frazier gave the former chief money in exchange for gaming machines that had been seized by the South Congaree Police Department. Related Coverage:Ex South Congaree Town Councilman Indicted

Frazier's attorney, Jim Griffin, said his client is fully cooperating with law enforcement in connection with the case, and says Frazier looks forward to resolving this matter and moving forward with his life.

Frazier resigned in January of this year after eight years on the Lexington Town Council. At the time, he said he was stepping down because he'd moved outside the city limits, disqualifying him from the office.

He first became controversial in 2012 when rumors and reports surfaced that suggested Frazier might be involved in questionable business practices. Frazier maintained he did nothing wrong.

Frazier explained by saying he had a conversation with someone who was interested in getting a new business venture and that he'd bragged about having friends--public officials--who would help them out. He called the statements a "serious error in judgment."
