Lexington, SC (WLTX) - Lexington County Sheriff James Metts was indicted on bribery charges on Tuesday.
The indictment against the sheriff deals with Metts supposed role in keeping illegal immigrants out of jail. According to the federal charges, Metts accepted cash to do that. Previous Coverage:Sheriff Metts Indicted
If true, it goes against something the sheriff made a big deal about three years ago. His department started a program designed to track down illegals and get them out of the country and he made a YouTube video bragging about the success of the program.
Metts has denied any wrongdoing and says that he is looking forward to his day in court.
