Columbia, SC (WLTX) - Columbia police responded with a heavy presence to a home Tuesday night, blocking off streets in the process.

Columbia police say they got a call of shots fired just before 7 p.m. at a home at the intersection of Trenholm and Brennan Roads.

The S.W.A.T. team, EMS, and fire crews all responded.

Around 8:20 p.m., officers made the decision to go inside. When they went in, they discovered a man's body who apparently had died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Roads in the area were blocked for about 90 minutes as crews dealt with the situation.
