Columbia, SC (WLTX) - Fans stood in the rain Friday as they waited to get an autograph from former Gamecock and Cleveland Brown Connor Shaw. There was a fee but the money is going to a good cause.

"You see the crowd and you know they are coming to see Connor, but to know where the money is really going that makes anybody feel good," said Stephanie Amaker with Children's Chance.

The past two months has been a rush for Connor Shaw, he says being in the NFL is a surreal feeling.

"You see your name above your locker but then you see all of that orange stuff in your locker and that's something that I have to get use to," said Shaw.

The rain didn't stop fans that paid $25 dollars for Connor's autograph but all of the proceeds will go to Children's Chance, an organization that helps families with children that have cancer.

"Coach Spurrier introduced the team to Children's Chance and we always did Christmas get together with the kids so its dear to my heart. I knew after I graduated that I was going to continue to support them and do what I can for them. South Carolina, I claim this as my home so its good to see familiar faces and stuff like that."

"Just to have this kind of pub and to have someone like Connor to back Children's Chance, that right there is just amazing, so we are very honored," said Amaker.

Amaker did not expect to see so many people to come to Palmetto Moon in the Village at Sandhill.

The event raised close to $2,000.

"Palmetto Moon has done an amazing job backing Connor and today's profits, its coming back to Children's Chance you cant ask for anything better than that."

Connor says he doesn't do charity events to make his brand look good.. he does it because he knows it make a huge impact on a child battling cancer.

"I've met some really cool kids in the organization and I am just finding a way to do my part," said Shaw.
