We will be watching the tropics as a low pressure system spins off the coast.

Columbia, SC (WLTX) -- The Summer-like weather pattern will continue over the next several days bringing hot temperatures and a chance for rain.

There will be a chance for scattered showers and storms over the weekend with high temperatures in the upper 80s to near 90° degrees.

Monday we will continue to see opportunities for showers and storms, expect highs in the lower 90s.

Tuesday through Friday temperatures are expected to climb into the middle to upper 90s, mix in the humidity and it will feel even hotter at times.

Heat index values may climb as high as 105° on Wednesday.

Each day there will be an opportunity for showers and thunderstorms, but as we go into Independence Day some slightly dryer air may move into the Midlands.

We will also be keeping our eyes on the tropics as a low pressure system spins off the southeast coast.

The National Hurricane Center gives the low pressure system a 30% percent chance of further development over the next 2 days.

The system is expected to drift slowly towards Florida.
