Two military ordinances were found in a box of items that apparenlty had been donated by Shaw airman, according to Sumter police public information officer Tonyia McGirt.
Sumter, SC (WLTX) - Stun grenades were found nestled among some thrift store donations at the Goodwill store in Sumter early Wednesday morning.
Sumter police, along with Shaw Air Force Base and the U.S. Department of Defense, responded a little after 10 AM to the Goodwill Store on Broad Street for a call about military ordinance.
Two stun grenades were found in a box of items that apparently had been donated by a Shaw airman, according Chief public affairs officer at Shaw Air Force base Lt. Keavy Rake. According to Lt. Rake the grenades were inert but not marked as such which is why law enforcement and military responded.
The items were removed by military officials and were disposed.
