Lexington, SC (WLTX) Two people have been arrested in connection with a convenience store robbery on Charleston Highway Friday.
Lexington County Sheriff Lewis McCarty said detectives arrested Patrick Laron Benn, 22, of West Columbia, and Brad Deshawn Harris, 17, also from West Columbia, on arrest warrants on charges of armed robbery and criminal conspiracy.
Benn and Harris each were being held on Friday at the Lexington County Detention Center while awaiting bond hearings.
Arrest warrants allege that at about 3:19 a.m. Friday, Benn and Harris robbed the Kangaroo Express convenience store at 3504 Charleston Highway near West Columbia.
Deputies say Benn and Harris entered the store with bandannas covering their faces, pointed a handgun at the clerk at the store and demanded money and cigarettes.
The men stole $53 in cash and 10 packs of Newport cigarettes and ran away from the store.
Deputies arrested Benn and Harris at their respective homes.
Officers say Harris regularly bought items at the store.
