Sumter, SC (WLTX) - Sumter County Sheriff Deputies have arrested a woman they say stabbed her boyfriend to death.
Helen Louise Wells, 20, has been arrested and charged with murder.
Deputies responded Saturday to the 1900 block of Peach Orchard Road and found the body of 21-year-old Mallory Jerell Richardson on the living room floor.
According to the incident report, Richardson was cold to the touch and had a deep puncture on his upper chest near the heart.
The incident report also states that while deputies were examining the body Wells threw up and started screaming.
Wells admitted to deputies that she stabbed the victim with a knife after they got into an argument about a female friend of hers.She told deputies that she and Richardson had been in physical altercations before and that she was afraid, according to the incident report.
The report states that deputies asked Wells were she placed the knife and she told them she tossed it in the front yard.
EMS workers attempted to revive Richardson, but were unable to.
Wells was the victim's live-in girlfriend.
Wells was arrested on scene and taken to the Sumter-Lee Regional Detention Center.
