July was a relatively dry month in Columbia, we rounded out the month 2.63" inches below normal for rain.
Columbia, SC (WLTX) -- The chances for showers and thunderstorms will be with us for the weekend and temperatures will be a little below normal.
Scattered showers and storms are expected on Saturday and with the rain chances and clouds, high temperatures are only expected to climb into the lower 80s.
The atmosphere will continue to be moist, so any showers or thunderstorms that develop could produce locally heavy rainfall.
Sunday there will be the chance for more scattered showers and storms, expect high temperatures in the middle 80s.
There will still be a chance for rain as we go into the new workweek, under mostly cloudy skies high temperatures on Monday will top out in the middle to upper 80s.
Tuesday through Thursday our temperatures will start to warm up and our rain chances will begin to decrease.
Tuesday there will be a small chance for showers and storms with high temperatures in the lower 90s.
Right now, on Wednesday and Thursday there will be little chance for rain, it will be hot though with highs in the lower to middle 90s.
The rain chances will return to the area by Friday as a front approaches the Midlands, it will still be hot though with high temperatures in the lower to middle 90s.
