West Columbia, SC (WLTX) - The City of West Columbia is shutting off water to a large group of customers for several hours Tuesday so it can repair a damaged line.

The city will turn off the service from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. for customers in following areas:

  • Both sides of North Lake Drive (U.S. Hwy 6) from Pilgrim Church Road to Andrew Corley Road.
  • All addresses on Andrew Corley Road from Hwy 6 to Corley Mill Road.
  • All addresses on Midway Road from Andrew Corley Road to Hope Ferry Road including residents in Kenwood Subdivision.

On July 29th, a 36-inch water line broke, leading to a large boil water advisory. Workers were able to temporarily repair the line until the permanent repairs take place Tuesday.

However, because the water will be shut off for the work, there is a possibility of contamination, and the city says people in the affected area will have to boil water until further notice.
