Clarendon County, SC (WLTX) - One man could face a murder charge after authorities say he shot his wife to death at a home in Clarendon County.

Officials say the incident occurred at approximately 9:30 p.m. Saturday at her house on Poston Lane.

Deputies say the husband, Johny Lee Richburg Sr., 60, walked into the Clarendon County Detention Center and told Correction Officers that he shot his wife.

Clarendon County Sheriff Randy Garrett says deputies were then dispatched to the detention center to detain Richburg and to the home to check on his wife.

Clarendon County Chief Deputy Coroner Bucky Mock says 57-year-old Julia Richburg died on the scene from multiple gun shot wounds.

Deputies also say an arrest was made at the home after a person refused to listen to officials and attempted to enter the crime scene.

Richburg is being held at the Clarendon County Detention Center pending a murder charge.

The incident remains under investigation by the Clarendon County Sheriff's Department.
