Columbia, SC (WLTX) - Add South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley to the list of those who've taken the ALS "Ice Bucket Challenge."
Haley released a video on YouTube Thursday showing her getting doused with two pitchers of ice water by her son Nalin and daughter Rena. She said the two were "more than eager" to help their mom get soaked.
Across the country, celebrities, politicians, and regular folks have been posting videos to social media showing them taking the challenge. The goal of the effort is to raise money and awareness in the fight against ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig's disease, which affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord.
Once someone takes the challenge, they then ask another person to do the same. Haley wants musician Edwin McCain, Clemson Coach Dabo Swinney, and future CBS Late Show host Stephen Colbert to take it.
She also asked that all South Carolinians participate or donate if they can.
