So far this year Columbia has hit 100° or higher only four times.

Columbia, SC (WLTX) -- Even though many students are returning to school this week, summer is not done just yet as far as the weather goes.

Monday we are expecting high temperatures to top out in the middle 90s, but with the humidity it may feel like the triple digits during the afternoon hours.

A shower or thunderstorm will be possible Monday afternoon as a disturbance swings through the area, otherwise just expect partly cloudy and hot.

Tuesday will stay hot with highs in the middle 90s and again there will be an opportunity for a shower or thunderstorm.

Heat index values on Tuesday will reach the low 100° degree range making it feel very uncomfortable.

Wednesday through Friday the heat will continue to build with air temperatures climbing into the upper 90s, with the humidity though it will feel hotter.

An isolated shower or storm is possible Wednesday through Friday, but no organized activity is expected.

A front is expected to move into the area over the weekend, that will increase our rain chances and bring our temperatures closer to normal on Saturday and Sunday.
