Lexington, SC (WLTX) -Hearts across the Midlands got a little heavier today after learning that 9-year-old Richard Culliver passed away.

Richard's family announced on Facebook that he passed away Sunday morning.

He was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor when he was in the second grade, something that normally carries a 9-12 month lifespan past the diagnosis.

However, last September the family was given the good news that his tumor shrunk.

Sadly, his mother told supporters last week that his health had taken a turn for the worse.

From our men in uniform to former USC Quarterback Dylan Thompson, Richard captured the hearts of folks all across the Midlands.

Funeral arrangements have not been announced.
