Columbia, SC (WLTX) - Those interested in starting their own business in downtown Columbia now have a new resource to turn to.
The City of Columbia announced a new business loan program Tuesday.
Those interested will be given up to $50,000 towards any costs associated with starting or expanding a business in the Main Street area of downtown.
The goal is to attract a variety of new businesses.
"Fashion and accessories, arts and culture kinds of establishments, home decor and furnishings," says Paul Featheringbill, a commercial loan officer. "We really want to work on that, getting a really good retail mix for Main Street. and we think this loan's a great opportunity to do that."
