Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott said students ranging in ages from 14-18 gathered Wednesday morning to fight in one of the restrooms at the school..

Sheriff Leon Lott stated that having a school resource officer on school grounds led to the quick apprehension of those involved. The school districts and the Richland County Sheriff's Department both adhere to a zero tolerance policy for anyone who seeks to commit harmful acts on school grounds.
Abram Walker,18, and Davon Young and Shakimo Smith, both 17, were charged as adults and transported to the Richland County Detention Center. Eight other students who were minors were released to their parents pending a hearing in family court.
