Columbia Police say both drivers will face charges in a wreck, this afternoon, that resulted in a moped being trapped under the front of an suv.


Columbia, S.C. (WLTX)-- A late afternoon wreck, near downtown Columbia, left a moped under the front end of a sport utility vehicle. The wreck happened just before 5:00 p.m. along Millwood Avenue, near Gervais Street.

Columbia Police say the moped was traveling through the parking lot of a business when it was struck by the suv. Pictures from the scene show the moped under the front part of the vehicle. Police say the moped driver was injured and is in serious condition, but is expected to be ok.

Both drivers will to face charges in connection with the collision. Police say the driver of the moped is to be charged with not having a moped license and failure to yield. The driver of the other vehicle was cited for driving under suspension.
