COLUMBIA (WLTX) -- The City of Columbia Water Works has experienced a 12 inch water main break in the Rosewood Area.
The city is advising customers in the following areas to vigorously boil their water for one full minute prior to drinking or cooking: the 200 to 700 block of Rosewood Drive, S. Kilbourne Rd. from Rosewood Dr to Montgomery Ave, Moss Ave from S. Prospect St to S. Kilbourne Rd., Prentice Ave from S. Prospect St. to Barwick St, all of Barwick St., Capers Ave. from S. Prospect St. to Deerwood St., Harvard Ave. from S. Prospect St. to S. Kilbourne Rd., Hemphill St. from Prentice Ave. to Montgomery Ave., Montgomery Ave. from S. Prospect St. to Deerwood St., all of Overbrook Dr., Governers Place & Thornwell Ct., Suber St. from S. Kilbourne to Montgomery Ave.
Also, any residents near the affected area who have lost water and/or water pressure are also advised to vigorously boil their water for at least one full minute prior to drinking or cooking. Also, any ice made from water that has not been boiled should not be used for drinking purposes.
The City of Columbia Water Works is working to correct the problem.
