The 2nd annual HairWalk: The Movement Runway Show, this year on October 3rd, is an event that celebrates survivors of cancer, raises funds for local charities, and highlights aspiring stylists by showing off their creativity and talents.

Over 50 Breast Cancer Survivors will participate in the HairWalk: The Movement Runway Show in celebration of overcoming cancer, sharing the stage that night with more than 100 pro models, showcasing designers, stylists, and retailers, all to support local charities. In October of 2013, during the inaugural event, more than 200 cancer survivors, models, and stylists took part, with $5000 in funds raised for donation to South Carolina Oncology Associates Cares Foundation, and Palmetto Health Foundation.

"The survivors are the heart and soul of HairWalk. Their stories of triumph and survival are what inspire us to spread the message that early detection is key in the fight against cancer," said Alisa Barnes, owner of Sassy Cat Promotions, the non-profit organization that produces HairWalk: The Movement.

Founded last year by Alisa Barnes, along with Sassy Cat Promotions, who is a stylist herself, Alisa came to recognize the signs of illness that were present in her clients' hair. She decided that the best way to help her clients, many of whom are also her friends, was by launching HairWalk: The Movement.

Hair Walk: The Movement is a charity fundraising event composed of three single events - the Pink Tie Charity Auction, the HeadHunterz Competition, and Hair Walk: The Movement Runway Show – designed to raise awareness and funds, and motivate action for a cause.

The Pink Tie Event will precede HairWalk: The Movement Runway Show, and was created specifically to recognize the men who have been diagnosed with breast cancer or stood in support of the women in their lives affected by breast cancer.

Sassy Cat Promotions is a South Carolina registered nonprofit organization that develops, supports and promotes the works of those striving to make a positive impact on the lives of others. For more information, visit the website at or on Facebook at
