Augusta, GA (AP, WLTX) - Heavy rain drenched much of north Georgia, forcing the cancellation of practice round play at Augusta National.
The Masters tournament is being played in Augusta this week. Masters officials said players were asked to clear the grounds and take shelter due to severe weather.
The National Weather Service in Peachtree City issued flash flood warnings for a handful of counties through 1:15 p.m.
News19's J.R. Berry was able to look at the grounds of the course before play was suspended. He said there are still signs of damage from February's ice storm to the course's famed pine tress, with many of the plants having broken limbs. Berry will have a report later in the day from Augusta National on News19 at 5, 6, and 7.
