Augusta, SC (WLTX) --- Back in November, the focus of most sports fans was on the college football season. But for Dustin Johnson, he captured the biggest win of his PGA Tour career by winning the World Golf Championship HSBC Champions in Shanghai.
On his bag for that trip was his younger brother, Austin.
The College of Charleston graduate was looking for a job, but didn't see the offer to caddie in China as nothing more than a temporary gig.
But Johnson's victory and the way the brothers meshed on the course convinced Dustin that the best person to be on his bag was his brother.
With an inexperienced person on the bag, Dustin has taken it upon himself to check the yardage and choose his own clubs.
But what Austin lacks in experience he makes up for by knowing which buttons to push with Dustin and when to push them.
Also, Dustin's new responsibilities on the course mean he has had to slow down his pace of play which in the past, Johnson says has affected his performance.
So far in 2014, the combination has produced one win, a pair of runner-up finishes, a tie for fourth and tie for sixth - all coming in just eight starts.
This Thursday, Dustin will make his fifth appearance in the Masters. Austin has been to the Augusta National Golf Club as a fan to support Dustin, but now, Austin's biggest support will come from what he does on the course - keeping the older brother focused and calm during what could turn out to be one of the most important four days for the Johnson family.
