COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - James Murray-Boyles scored 16 points to lead four A.C. Flora players in double figures in a 51-42 overtime victory over Darlington in the Class 3A boys state championship Saturday at the Colonial Life Arena.
The game was tied at 35 at the end of regulation but A.C. Flora (20-9) used a 16-7 run in the extra period to win its first boys basketball championship since 1986. Diquan Day-Grant scored on a lay-up with 2:42 remaining to give A.C. Flora the lead for good at 39-38. He failed to convert the 3-point play but Darlington knocked the ball out of bounds and Murray-Boyles scored on the possession and they increased the lead to 45-38 with an 8-0 run.
Karl Gambled added 11 points and 14 rebounds while Day-Grant and Rion Davis chipped in 10 for A.C. Flora.
Marquis Green scored 12 points for Darlington (20-6). Demetrius Richardson and Frankie Johnson added 10 each.
