Two of the Palmetto State teams competing went head to head for the 2013 4A Division I state championship.

Dutch Fork captured by the school's first title in football by beating Sumter. Both squads were working hard in the shadows of Bank of America Stadium. The Silver Foxes are hoping to back up their championship with another one in 2014, while the Gamecocks are motivated by the desire to lock down the program's first state title since 1990.

Sumter has a new head coach in John Jones, a longtime assistant under former head coach Reggie Kennedy.

Jones served as the team's offensive coordinator and was promoted when Kennedy left to take over the Irmo program.
