Sumter, SC (WLTX) --- William Kinney will be remembered for his dramatic 22-yard touchdown run in Wilson Hall's win over Hammond in the SCISA 3A state championship.

That touchdown in the final minutes ended up being the difference in the Barons capturing their first title in football since 2003.

But it has been baseball where William has drawn the most attention from colleges. In fact, he will play baseball for the Citadel, although there is a chance he could also play football for the Bulldogs.

Perhaps the highest praise comes from second-year coach Bruce Lane who has been patrolling the sidelines for nearly 30 years. Lane says Kinney is one of a handful of players he would put in the elite category.

However, Kinney deflects such praise, calling himself "a normal guy".
