Newberry, SC (WLTX) --- He recently helped Newberry High School capture its first state title in any sport since 1981, but Trey Miller made his mark on Newberrry athletics long before the championship trophy was hoisted in the air.

Newberry was making its third straight appearance in the state finals, but had lost in heartbreaking fashion. Trey says in spite of the painful losses, he tried to set a good example of how to handle adversity.

In the end, Trey and the Bulldogs were able to celebrate winning that elusive state title which made it all the more sweeter after having been denied in 2012 and 2013.

In the classroom, Trey has set an example of how to be a true student-athlete. He is ranked in the top 20 percent of the senior class and he recently scored a 1500 on his SAT.

He expects to play at the next level, although he has yet to finalize his plans. Whereever he plays, you can expect Trey Miller to set the same example in college as he has done at Newberry High School.
