Columbia, SC (WLTX) --- Aric Almirola's win this past Sunday in the Coke Zero 400 was the first trip to Victory Lane for te 43 car since 1999.

The fact that Aric Almriola's first Sprint Cup win came 30 years to the weekend of car owner Richard Petty's final Cup win was the talk of the racing community but in the Pee Dee, there was a historic first for a native son.

Trent Owens is a native of Darlington and is in his first season as the crew chief for the 43 Ford. After the win, Owens' phone started receiving a host of congratulatory messages, one of which came from Darlington Raceway President Chip Wile who has known Owens for years.

Wile says the Darlington race fans have clearly gotten behind Owens and are proud of the fact that someone who grew up in the shadows of the Track Too Tough To Tame is now making history on NASCAR's highest level.

But each week offers a new challenge and this Sunday, Almirola will roll off 19th in the Camping World RV Sales 301 at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway.
