Clemson, SC (WLTX) - Clemson quarterback Chad Kelly has been dismissed for what coach Dabo Swinney calls "conduct detrimental to the team."
Swinney issued a statement late Monday afternoon.
"I have dismissed Chad Kelly for conduct detrimental to our program," said Swinney in a statement. "He has had a pattern of behavior that is not consistent with the values of our program. I hope he will mature and grow from this and become the man and player I know he can be. I wish him nothing but the best in the future academically and athletically."
Kelly redshirted in 2012, and tore his ACL during last year's Spring Game. However, he returned to the team by September, and played in five games last year.
Kelly was in a three-way competition for the starting quarterback job with senior Cole Stoudt and freshman Deshaun Watson.
