USC being award the top seed in Stanford's region came as a surprise to some, but the Gamecocks feel as if their performances throughout the season speak volumes.

"We know what it feels like to hunt," said Gamecocks head basketball coach Dawn Staley. "Now we know what it feels like to be the hunted."

On their heels will be the Big West Tournament Champions who hail from Northridge, CA. The Matadors are led by junior Ashlee Guay, the reigning Big West Player of the Year. Guay was also named to the conference's First Team and the tournament MVP. She leads her squad with 16ppg( 45% FG) and 4.8apg.

Cal State Northridge head coach Jason Flowers is excited to have his program on a national platform.

"We're representing a campus of 37,000-38,000 students," he said. "Hopefully the way we conduct ourselves this weekend is a great representation of our institution."

The Men's NCAA Tournament has had no shortage of upsets. If South Carolina overlooks their opponent, they could find themselves in the same boat.

"It's called 'March Madness' for a reason and no team wants it to be their last game, said junior forward Aleighsa Welch. "You've just got to know that everyone's coming after you."

The chance at pulling an upset is not lost on the opposing locker room.

"We feel pretty good and confident," said junior guard Cinnamon Lister. "We just think it is another game of basketball."

Lister is correct. It is just a game of basketball, but with high stakes. Win or go home. These two teams both are looking to prove something to the national audience. Northridge will look to prove that they belong in the tournament. South Carolina is looking to show the college basketball world that they are, indeed, worthy of a No. 1 seeding.

Be sure to watch News 19 as we will have all of the latest from Seattle as our James Starks follows the team.
