Fayetteville, AR (WLTX) --- Top ranked South Carolina rallied with a pair of runs in the top of the eighth inning to defeat Arkansas 2-1 on Friday afternoon in game one of a doubleheader.

USC was down 1-0 in the top of the eighth but an RBI double by Tanner English scored D.C. Arendas and tied the game at one. With two outs, Marcus Mooney delivered a base hit that scored English and put USC on top 2-1.

USC pitcher Jordan Montgomery improved to 4-2 as he went seven innings and allowed one run on four hits, three walks and nine strikeouts. The nine k's tied the season high he set against Clemson.

Joel Seddon worked a perfect ninth to earn his eighth save of the season.

In the second game of the doubleheader, Arkansas evened the series with a 4-1 victory. The rubber game is set for tonight at 7:00 pm ET.
