Columbia, SC (WLTX) - You know she can coach and play basketball, but did you know Dawn Staley can play football?
Well, she can.

Late in the first half of the scrimmage for the football team, Staley sprinted from the sidelines toward the endzone and caught a 30-yard pass from quarterback Dylan Thompson. Staley's participation wasn't announced ahead of time, catching the over 36,000 fans in attendance by surprise.
The score allowed USC's Black team to go up 21-10 just before the half.
USC Head Coach Steve Spurrier said after the game that he called Staley on Wednesday and asked her if she'd be up for taking part in the Spring Game.
"That's a lot of pressure, i didn't think there would be this many people" Staley said afterward. "Dylan put it right there where I couldn't miss."
Several players then hoisted Staley on their shoulders and carried her off the field.
While it was a welcome surprise for fans, it was also a little stressful for the man throwing the ball.
"That was the most nervous I've ever been throwing a pass," joked Thompson afterward.
Staley is coming off her most successful season as the Gamecocks' coach, leading the team to their first-ever SEC regular season title and an appearance in the Sweet 16. The team was honored at halftime for their achievement.
