Columbia, SC (WLTX) - South Carolina women's basketball coach Dawn Staley has been named an assistant coach for the USA World Basketball Team.

The members of the coaching staff were announced Monday.

The team features head coach Geno Auriemma of Connecticut, and fellow assistant coaches Doug Bruno of DePaul and Cheryl Reeve of the Minnesota Lynx.

Staley has previously been an assistant coach on the FIBA and Olympic teams in 2006 and 2008.

"I'm really looking forward to getting back into the USA Basketball network," Staley said in a statement. "It's reliving some of the best days of my life. To be able to work with Geno, Doug and Cheryl, it's going to open me up as a coach to learn different things. I'm looking forward to the challenge, and I'm looking forward to, as always, winning the gold medal."

The coaches begin their work in a training camp set for September 7th through 10th in Annapolis, Maryland. The FIBA World Championship will be played from September 27th through October 5th.
