Columbia, SC (WLTX) - The University of South Carolina will now have a football scholarship honoring former running back Marcus Lattimore.
The scholarship will be funded through an endowment gifted to the school by the David Glenn family from Greenville. It will be awarded to a deserving walk-on student-athlete.
Those receiving the scholarship must demonstrate high character, integrity, and leadership skills.
"Marcus has been an inspiration to many, including our family," said David Glenn said in a statement through the university. "It is our pleasure to give this gift to the athletics' program in his honor."
Lattimore played three seasons for the Gamecocks, setting new school records for both rushing (38) and total (44) touchdowns. He also ranks sixth in school history in rushing yards.
He's currently a member of the San Francisco 49ers.
