Columbia, SC (WLTX) --- For the past eight days, the USC men's basketball team has employed its version of a full-court press in the community.

The "8K in 8 Days" outreach effort featured stops at Burnside Elementary School, Fort Jackson, Palmetto Health Childrens Hospital and a clinic at the Colonial Life Arena for Special Olympics.

Tuesday morning saw the outreach effort conclude with head coach Frank Martin appearing at Academy Sports + Outdoors in Harbison. Martin spoke to a group of area youngsters who were about to embark on a $100 shopping spree courtesy of the store.

The coach was also available for pictures and autographs in the final stop of the outreach effort. The 8K in 8 Days campaign was designed to reach 8,000 season ticket holders. While Martin would love to see increased attendance at the Colonial Life Arena, the coach says the main goal should be to impact the Midlands community in a positive manner and be an inspiration to the kids who have been a part of the 8K in 8 Days effort.
