Columbia, SC (WLTX) - With Hurricane Arthur now well to our north, South Carolina will see a nearly perfect Fourth of July.
Below is a look at what News19's Weather Team is forecasting, whether you're hitting the road or staying at home:
Staying at Home: The Midlands Outlook
With a cold front now off to our east, drier air has set up camp in the Midlands, bringing slightly lower temperatures and less humidity. With the new high pressure system dominating, no showers or storms are expected until next week.
High pressure will also dominate the weather pattern at the coast. Here's a look at the top three destination sites along the coast.
Sunday: Hi: 84
Arthur made for a difficult start to Independence Day for the Tar Heel State, particularly along the Outer Banks. However, Arthur is has now left, setting up nice conditions for the rest of the weekend.
Upstate and the Mountains
The same dry air mass that's over the central and southern part of South Carolina will also bring low humidity and clear skies to the Upstate and mountains near Asheville. The only chance of rain is earlier in the week, after the holiday weekend concludes.
