Columbia, SC (WLTX) -- The chance for rain will continue Monday as a stationary front remains in the area.
There will be a chance of showers and storms on Monday and temperatures may only top out in the lower to middle 80s with the rain and the clouds.
Slow-moving showers and storms could produce locally heavy rainfall in some areas.
Saturday the Columbia Metropolitan Airport set a new daily record for rain.
The airport received 3.61" inches of rain breaking the old record of 2.49" set in 1964.
The total rainfall between Friday evening and Sunday morning was even more impressive as the Columbia Metropolitan Airport received 4.29" inches of rain.
The stalled front that produced the showers on Saturday and the rain on Sunday will linger in the area even as we go into the new workweek.
Gradually the rain chances will decrease as we move through the workweek and temperatures will increase.
There will be a chance for rain on Tuesday, but some dryer air will move into the Midlands by Wednesday.
High temperatures Tuesday through Friday are expected to climb into the lower 90s.
