Columbia, SC (WLTX) -- The next couple of days we'll experience some of the hottest weather of the summer.
Starting Wednesday, high pressure will ridge into the Southeast and limit the development of showers and thunderstorms.
This means we'll see mostly sunny skies and high temperatures near 100 degrees Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.
With humidity, it's going to feel oppressive with heat indices near 105 degrees through the end of the work week.
During the next couple of days, make sure you stay hydrated, avoid outdoor activities during the heat of the afternoon, wear light colored clothing, and find a spot with air conditioned.
By the weekend, a back door cold front will move in and bring us some showers and thunderstorms and bring us relief from the heat.
High temperatures will be back in the low 90s starting Sunday through early next week.
