Columbia, SC (WLTX) - The hot weather from the past week will continue into the weekend. However, the humidity will be increasing as well and this will result in higher heat indices.

High temperatures will be in the mid 90s with heat indices in the upper 90s to about 100. Some caution will be needed with the heat.

There will be little chance for rain on Saturday. The moisture will be building in the eastern part of South Carolina where there will be a better chance for afternoon showers and thunderstorms. The best chance for any rain will be in the I-95 corridor.

Skies will be partly cloudy Saturday night as a result of the increased moisture. The chance for thunderstorms will return by Sunday afternoon. However, the heat will continue through Labor Day.

There are no tropical systems that will impact the region for the next five days.
