Columbia, SC (WLTX) --Mother nature is sending us some typical summertime weather for this holiday weekend.
High pressure will continue to control our weather for a couple more days before showers and thunderstorms return later this weekend.
Friday will feature tons of sunshine with hot high temperatures in the mid 90s.
Saturday will also stay dry with partly cloudy skies and highs in the mid 90s once again.
Starting Sunday afternoon storms will return to the Midlands and high temperatures will be back in the low 90s.
Early next week a very typical summertime pattern will resume with highs in the mid 90s and spotty afternoon storms through Thursday.
If you're headed to the coast this weekend the weather will cooperate there too. The beaches from Myrtle Beach to Hilton Head will enjoy plenty of sunshine with highs in the mid to upper 80s.
If you're venturing to Lake Murray, Lake Marion , or Lake Wateree the weekend will begin with dry weather but you'll have to keep an eye to the sky for a few storms by Sunday.
If you're headed to the mountains, the weekend will start off dry but end with some storms. Friday and Saturday will include a couple of storms with highs in the upper 80s. But storm chances will increase Sunday with high temperatures in the mid 80s.
