Columbia 7 Day Forecast Discussion

*** A WINDY WEDNESDAY; COOL TEMPERATURES CONTINUE...  ***

.....Rain will begin to spread across the Midlands around lunchtime and will be intermittent during the afternoon.  Amounts will likely be less than 1/4" with the rain ending in the early evening.

.....Winds will increase as the storm system moves into the Atlantic.  It will be quite windy on Wednesday with cold, dry air pushing into the Midlands.  Winds will be gusting to 35 or 40 mph at times.  The skies will be clear Wednesday night and the winds will diminish.  This should allow temperatures to drop into the mid 20s Thursday morning.

.....The weather will improve slightly into Thursday, however another storm system will be approaching from the west.  There is some uncertainty as to how it will affect the weather in the Midlands.

.....Current indications are that the storm system will move east through the Gulf of Mexico and across Florida Friday.  This will bring cloudiness to the area during the day.  The question is whether precipitation will extend far enough to the north to affect the Midlands.  This will be watched in later computer model runs.

.....The weekend should be dry as the system moves east.  It is expected to be mostly clear and chilly.  There will be some moderation of temperatures into the first of the week, but the weather will still be colder than normal.

.....Rain will come to an end early this evening as drier air quickly advances back into the state.  Skies will turn mostly clear after midnight.
