Columbia, SC (WLTX) - Tropical Storm Julia formed late Tuesday night. The storm could bring heavy rain to South Carolina Wednesday into Thursday.
Tropical Storm Julia is moving north-northwest at 9 mph. The storm had winds of 40 mph and gusts up to 50 mph late Tuesday night. Tropical storm warnings were issued from Ponte Verde Beach to Altamaha Sound.
Current forecast models have the storm tracking to the north-northwest, and if that path holds up, the storm would bring heavy rain to South Carolina Wednesday into Thursday morning. News19's in-house forecast model has the bulk of the rain falling in the Lowcountry, but if the track shifts to the north, we could see intense rainfall.
Obviously, the system will require monitoring over the next day or so.
