Strong Storms Strike Parts of the Midlands

Columbia, SC (WLTX) -- Thunderstorms roared through parts of the Midlands Saturday evening, some even prompting severe thunderstorm warnings.

Severe storms went through parts of Richland, Lee, Sumter, Orangeburg, Barnwell, and Bamberg Counties.

Chief Meteorologist Jim Gandy said the threat for severe weather is decreasing for the rest of Saturday night, but if you get caught in one of these storms there is a chance of damaging winds and the possibility of hail.

The Storms Prediction Center reported wind damage in Sumter County, where trees and debris were reported on Garners Ferry Road, just past Wateree River Bridge.  They also reported multiple trees down in Orangeburg County, near Neeses Highway and Norway Road.
