Columbia, SC (WLTX) - Severe thunderstorms are moving throught the Midlands, putting some parts the area at risk for damaging winds.
The storms began moving into the area just before 5 p.m. Wednesday. The storms have led forecasters to issue several severe thunderstorm warnings.
A meanwhile, an official severe thunderstorm watch remains in effect for Newberry and Saluda Counties until 8 p.m. A watch means conditions are favorable for severe weather in that area.
The strong line of storms has been pushing across the Southeast since Tuesday, and entered Georgia Wednesday. The storm is believed to have touched off a tornado just north of Atlanta. There have also been radar indicated tornadoes in the Upstate of South Carolina.
Other parts of the Midlands may also see showers and storms.
