Band or DJ?  This one decision can determine the entire feel of your reception.  Ultimately, this decision usually boils down to personal preference and cost.  Most brides have a preference and a budget in mind, and know where they stand on this question.

Be sure to keep the following in mind when making this decision:

  • What is the size of the reception hall?  Is it large enough to hold a band and a dance floor?
  • Will the DJ/Bandleader be a good emcee of a reception?  Talk to them beforehand and get a feel for their personality.
  • What is the length of your reception?  Keep in mind that bands will need breaks every few hours—schedule this accordingly.
  • What songs are on your “must have” list?  Make sure your entertainer of choice has these selections available.
