In Birmingham, Alabama the Claflin Panthers found themselves in the SIAC Championship game on Saturday night taking on a Clark Atlanta team who barely beat Benedict by two points in the semifinals.
The Panthers went inside early to Jaleel Charles and the all-conference center powers in two points for Claflin who got off to a 10-3 run to start the game. They led led by 35-22 at halftime.
Then in the second half Benjamin Williams scores in the paint after the aggressive drive. He had 13 for the Panthers.
Later it's Thompson to Thompson action as Triston finds Tondric in the corner and he knocks down a huge three to give Claflin an 8 point lead as Clark Atlanta cutaway at the deficit.
Then Claflin goes back inside to Charles which is a good idea. He delivers with another paint bucket he led all players with a game high 18 points.
The Panthers make their free throws down the stretch and they win 69-61 over Clark Atlanta and punch their ticket to the Division II NCAA tournament.
For the first time in program history head coach Ricky Johnson and his Panthers win the SIAC tournament and are going dancing.
