CHARLOTTE - The Carolina Panthers have released veteran safety Kurt Coleman.
The news was first reported by NFL.com's Ian Rapoport, and confirmed by NBC Charlotte sports reporter Kelsey Riggs.
Coleman has played three years with Carolina, collecting 11 interceptions, 7 of them coming in 2015. Coleman did not have an interception in 2017.
Coleman, who will turn 30 on July 1, signed a three-year extension through 2019 ahead of the 2016 season.
The move reportedly saves the Panthers $2.6 million against the salary cap.
